The Front has a deep appreciation for our trails and the environment that surrounds our beautiful city. We’ve partnered with the Ogden Trails Network for several years to help provide maintenance on many of the climbing access trails, remove graffiti off boulders, prevent erosion, build mountain bike trails, and more! To get more specific, 40,000 sq.ft. of eroding hillside has been retained and reseeded in the last year with the help of Front volunteers. In 2017, Front volunteers scrubbed nearly 3,500 sq.ft. of graffiti from various boulders, signs, and crags in Ogden. That’s like scrubbing the entire bouldering area in the Ogden gym! Every year we raise tens of thousands of dollars for OTN and put in roughly 1,000 man-hours of work into Ogden’s trails, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

We were stoked to continue our partnership with the Ogden Trails Network and host the 6th annual Shindig Fundraiser on Thursday, May 10th. It was Ogden’s most epic celebration of our most precious asset – our world-class trails! The night was full of local food and drinks, a seriously stocked raffle, jaw-dropping silent auction, a DJ, a BMX ramp, bike demos, kids games, and more! What’s most important is that we raised over $60k for OTN as a result of the Shindig. $28k came from Young Subaru, another $20k from Mckee Foods, and about $14k from Shindig entry tickets and public donations at the event!

This year, the OTN with help from Front volunteers are working together on the new Track Line trail project out by the Business Exchange loop near the Enve headquarters. The new trail, when completed, will feature nearly 3 miles of XC mountain biking, pump tracks, beginner to advanced riding features, cyclocross features, and a variety of other cool amenities (including a planned outdoor boulder feature). To date, volunteers have removed over (4) 40 yard dumpsters of trash from the area, roughed in 2 miles of trail, and begun construction on the riding features.
