Local Ogden artist Erica Lyon has just finished her latest pieces for The Front Climbing Club! Erica has been painting since she could stand, and early on was inspired by childhood books with illustrations of natural spaces that we all love to play in. Today her paintings are of her adventures and the places she loves, which she captures on paper, canvas, and wood.

Currently, Erica works at Ben Lomond High School in Ogden as an art teacher, where she inspires her students through visual art. Students are a major component for her and constantly push her to become a better artist herself.

Erica has raised money through donations of art and nonprofit work that relate to her passions of climbing and hiking. She has served as a Peace Corps volunteer, where she combined her love of art and traveling while teaching art to deaf students in Ghana. Her passion through the Peace Corps also led her to raise and train guide dogs, one of whom is currently a therapy dog in her classes.

We commissioned Erica to create something new. The Front Ogden has a unique history and is one of the most picturesque climbing facilities in the nation. Erica has creatively combined her expertise and vision to develop the feeling of our gym into her art. We are honored to have such a talented and renowned artist such as Erica as a member of our gym and artist for our branded apparel.

Her artwork for these pieces is inspired from the gym; the dynamic space of the bouldering walls and pads and backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains. It is also a special commemoration of the building and its own unique features. Thanks so much for your artwork we are so pleased to finally release these new shirts and hoodies to our climbing family at The Front!
